Vault Doors
The vault door is the most important part of any vault, and it is rated separately from the walls around it. Wilson Safe Company sells vault doors in TL-30, B-rate, UL Class M, 9K composite and fire-lined versions, plus the Round 360 and THOR III, and installs and services them.
Choosing a door
How to choose a vault door
Start with the risk you are protecting against. A burglary-rated door is tested against attack, a fire-lined door protects contents from heat, and some applications need both. The door should also match the panels or walls it is mounted in, so decide the two together. For a plain-language guide to the ratings, read UL burglary ratings explained and what fire ratings really mean.
- Burglary rating: TL-30, B-rate or UL Class M, matched to what your insurer expects
- Fire protection: a fire-lined door when records, media or documents are stored
- Size and swing: door opening, clearances and the direction it opens
- Lock: mechanical combination or electronic, and whether a time delay is required
- Installation: the wall or panel the door mounts to, and how it will be delivered

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What does TL-30 mean on a vault door?
It means the door was tested to resist 30 minutes of continuous attack with common hand and power tools. Without an x6 designation, only the door is covered by the rating, not every side of the vault. See UL burglary ratings explained.
What is a B-rate vault door?
B-rate is an insurance-industry designation for a basic level of burglary resistance. It is not the same as a UL TL rating, so confirm what your insurer accepts before you choose.
Does a vault door also protect against fire?
Not automatically. Burglary and fire protection are separate. If you need both, choose a door built for both or add a fire-lined door.
Can an existing vault door be repaired or replaced?
Often, yes. See vault door service or call (800) 345-8053 and tell us the make, model and problem.
How do I price a vault door?
Send us the opening size, the rating you need and the location through Contact Sales, or call (800) 345-8053.
